PSU's Timmons gets probation program (AP)
Penn State cornerback Knowledge Timmons must serve a year in a probation program for first-time offenders after being charged with two misdemeanors. Timmons was charged with disorderly conduct and defiant trespass after an Oct. 7 fight that involved three other Penn State players. One man was injured in the campus fight.

Florida State OT Rose ineligible (AP)
Florida State offensive Daron Rose is ineligible for the season and will attend a junior college. Rose, who started 11 games last season, will attempt to regain his eligibility, school officials said Wednesday. Rose's departure is the second this week for the Seminoles, who are coming off consecutive 7-6 seasons.

Hamilton resigns from job at Ga. Tech (AP)
Former Georgia Tech quarterback Joe Hamilton resigned from his position at the school Wednesday, a day after he was charged with marijuana possession, driving under the influence of alcohol and hit-and-run. The charges came about a week after the 31-year-old was hired as the school's assistant director of player personnel.

QB Kinne transfers from Texas to Tulsa (AP)
Quarterback G.J. Kinne, who was fourth on the depth chart at Texas, transferred to Tulsa on Wednesday. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Kinne will have to sit out next season and will be a sophomore when he becomes eligible in 2009. "We're extremely excited to have a player of G.J.'s caliber. He has been a winner his whole life.

McKinnon leads Divisional Class for Hall (AP)

Lou Holtz speaks during an interview after he was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame, Thursday, May 1, 2008, in New York. Holtz coached six schools to 249 victories in a career that spanned more than 30 years. He won a national title with Notre Dame in 1988.

Former North Alabama linebacker Ronald McKinnon heads the Divisional Class selected for the College Football Hall of Fame on Wednesday. McKinnon played linebacker at North Alabama from 1992-95, setting school records for tackles in a season (175) and career (621), leading the Lions to three straight Division II championships.
