Tuesday night might be pretty slow out there on the streets, but there's no shortage of action on the hardcourt. There are a full dozen basketball betting lines available, plus four games to watch on national cable. We've got all four lined up in our latest hoops betting preview; all times are Eastern, and as always, Bodog Sports is your source for fresh odds around the clock.
1. Toronto at Cleveland (7:00 p.m., NBA-TV)
The Cavaliers (31-11 SU, 20-21-1 ATS) are happy to be home after a five-game swing through the Western Conference, where they went 3-2 SU and 1-3-1 ATS. That's 11 road games out of 15 for the weary Cavs this past month. They're an outstanding 12-3 at the former Gund Arena, but only 6-11 ATS. Cleveland is also 4-10 ATS this year when favored by at least nine points; the early NBA odds had the Cavs as 9.5-point favorites against the Raptors (21-20 SU, 20-21 ATS), who have won five of their last seven games – all as underdogs. Toronto is 12-7 SU and 10-9 ATS with Jarrett Jack starting at point guard, and 4-2 SU and ATS since former starter Jose Calderon came back off the injured list in a reserve role.
2. Indiana at Miami (7:30 p.m.)
You have to play pretty lousy basketball to be out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. That's where the 14-26 Pacers (17-23 ATS) find themselves, 4.5 games behind the Chicago Bulls for eighth place. However, Indiana is 3-3 SU and 4-2 ATS since the return of top scorer Danny Granger (26.5 points, 6.4 rebounds per 40 minutes). The Heat (20-19 SU, 19-20 ATS) are coming off a six-game trip out West at 3-3 SU and ATS; they're 11-10 SU and 9-12 ATS at American Airlines Arena this year. The Pacers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 trips to Miami, but were stuffed 114-80 back in December as 8.5-point puppies. The Heat were favored by 5.5 points on our opening NBA lines.
3. Clemson at Georgia Tech (7:00 p.m., ESPN2)
The cream of Tuesday's college hoops schedule gets shunted over to the Deuce, where we'll see the Tigers (15-3 SU, 9-6 ATS) and the Yellow Jackets (13-4 SU, 8-4 ATS) tangle at the Alexander Memorial Coliseum. Clemson is No. 17 in the AP polls and No. 15 on Ken Pomeroy's efficiency charts, while the Ramblin' Wreck are No. 19 and No. 25 respectively. However, Georgia Tech has lost just once at home this year and owns a shiny 71-67 victory over Duke (-7). The Tigers are 3-5 ATS in road and neutral settings and were blown out 74-53 by the Blue Devils (-11.5) in Durham.
4. Tennessee at Alabama (7:00 p.m., ESPN)
The SEC isn't a college hoops powerhouse, but ESPN will be in Tuscaloosa to show us the No. 8 Volunteers (14-2 SU, 7-5-1 ATS) taking on the unranked Crimson Tide (11-6 SU, 6-7 ATS). Tennessee raised its profile significantly by beating former No. 1 Kansas (-5) 76-68 last week. The biggest upset the Crimson Tide have recorded was against Michigan (+4) back in November. However, when these teams last met at Coleman Coliseum during the 2009 SEC title tourney, it was Alabama (+13) walking away with a 70-67 win. And while the Tide are only ranked No. 77 in team efficiency, they have rewarded UNDER bettors handsomely at 10-3. The defensive-minded Vols (No. 11 in efficiency) have the UNDER at 7-2.
5. Purdue at Illinois (9:00 p.m., ESPN)
We wrap up the day in the Big Ten, where the No. 13 Boilermakers (14-3 SU, 7-9-1 ATS) have hit a brick wall with three straight upset losses, to Wisconsin (+1.5), Ohio State (+9) and Northwestern (+8). Yes, Northwestern. That leaves Purdue at 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS in conference play, while Illinois (12-6 SU, 6-11 ATS) is 4-1 SU and 2-3 ATS in the Big Ten. The Boilers' perimeter defense was shredded in all three losses; it could be worse Tuesday with senior guard Chris Kramer (1.8 steals per game) suffering a sprained right ankle against Northwestern. Kramer told reporters at Sunday's practice that he would play against the Fightin' Illini. We'll definitely be there with live betting for both games on ESPN.
