NBA Basketball Betting - 5 Burning Questions on the Pro Hardwood
NBA betting action is heading towards the halfway point of the season, lets takes a moment to ask five burning questions for the week ahead.
1: Will Ron Artest's return to the Lakers lineup make them even more dangerous?
There hasn't been any stopping the Los Angeles Lakers on the offensive side of the court of late. In their L/3 home games, HC Phil Jackson's team has scored 131, 109, and 131 points respectively. However, there is a question about how strong of a defensive squad this is without F Ron Artest in the starting five. Without the St. John's product on the floor, LA has given up a whopping 108.6 points per game.
2: Do the Pistons have an end to this losing streak in sight?
The answer to this question is probably a resounding, "No." After averaging 85.7 points per game during this nine-game skid, it's hard to see how things are getting any better. Detroit lost two straight battles in the state of Texas at Dallas and San Antonio. At least there are some winnable games on the horizon but a loss to the 76ers on Saturday is a distinct possibility if the Pistons don't get their act together.
3: Can the Celtics keep it together without their starting five at full strength?
PG Rajon Rondo, F Kevin Garnett, and F Paul Pierce are all nursing injuries right now, and though none of the injuries are season-threatening, this is a tough little part of the schedule that the C's are about to embark upon. The win in Miami was one of the biggest of the year, but they’ll have to keep that momentum versus Atlanta and Toronto. With a few legitimate options to turn to, HC Doc Rivers is going to need to do a heck of a coaching job to keep the boys in green up to their winning ways.
4: Will the Lone Star State battle be won by the Spurs or Mavs? Dallas and San Antonio are only separated by about 275 miles, and the two teams feel like they are separated by much less than that year in and year out. The '09-'10 NBA betting season appears to be no exception, as the Mavericks and Spurs are in a tight race with the Rockets for the top spot in the Southwest Division. These two teams will get it on at the Alamodome on Friday night, and first place very well could be on the line.
5: How will the Lakers adapt to hitting the road for just their second long stretch of the season?
Los Angeles went a stretch of nearly an entire month where they never left the state of California. Sure, the Lakers head into Tuesday night with a stellar 20-4 record at the Staples Center, but this is largely an untested team when it comes to the road. An 8-3 mark as the visitors isn't exactly worthwhile. Those three losses are to Denver, Utah, and Phoenix. The eight wins? Sacramento, Detroit, New Jersey, Milwaukee, Chicago, Golden State, Houston, and Oklahoma City. The Lakers are only 4-7 ATS in their 11 roadies this year.
