After college football’s week 13, there are a few people who are in the doghouse from their poop performances. Here's who I'm ranting about as thief effort cost their teams victories against the college football point spreads last week.
HC Steve Kragthorpe, Louisville Cardinals... Consider this your send off, Coach! It's hard to not rant about the job in general that Kragthorpe did with this team. Remember when the Cards were ranked in the Top-5 in the country and threatening for a National Championship? Remember how badly Kragthorpe ruined QB Brian Brohm's career? Or how embarrassing that loss to Syracuse at home was as six score favorites? A 34-13 loss at home to Rutgers was the final time that anyone in Louisville will have to see Kragthorpe on the sidelines, as he was canned immediately following the last game of another disappointing season.
RB Mark Ingram, Alabama Crimson Tide... Ok, it's hard to rant about a guy who got injured in the game, but Ingram had a shot to possibly sew up the Heisman Trophy against a questionable Auburn defense on Saturday, and he didn't take advantage of the opportunity. Sixteen carries for 30 yards didn't cut it to the point that HC Nick Saban elected to use RB Trent Richardson for almost 50% of the carries. Ingram can still win the award with a huge game against Florida, but the game against Auburn nearly cost Alabama an undefeated season and was certainly a huge reason why the Tide didn't roll to another cover.
QB Bill Stull, Pittsburgh Panthers... How could you play this poorly in the Backyard Brawl, kid? Stull's final game against West Virginia in his career was an awful one, as he went 16/30 for 179 yards with a TD and two picks. He'll need to get off the mat in a hurry before Cincinnati comes to town, as U-Pitt still has a chance to play its way into the Orange Bowl. Another stinker like that one won't get the job done though, especially against a very good bunch of Bearcats.
QB Zac Robinson, Oklahoma State... Way to put up a total dud with your team's BCS hopes on the line, Robinson. It's understandable that the wind was simply out of control in this year's version of Bedlam, but going 10/23 for 47 yards with a pick is just inexcusable, as was the fact that he rushed for -6 yards. The Pokes were shutout in Norman against their arch rivals, effectively ending their BCS dreams and sending them to the Cotton Bowl or worse.
QB BJ Daniels, South Florida Bulls... Is there any doubt that Daniels is going to be one of the worst quarterbacks that gets to play in a bowl game this year? South Florida was nothing but smoke and mirrors all season, and losing 31-10 to Miami at home in the final game of the season helped prove it yet again. Daniels went 6/16 for 77 yards with a TD and a pick, as the Bulls only managed 220 yards of offense for the game. Daniels and HC Jim Leavitt had better enjoy this bowl trip, because if USF's signal caller doesn't improve, the Bulls aren't going anywhere next year.
