College Football's Week 8 Prime Time Players

Big players step up in big games, and this week, BetUS Sportsbook takes a look at the top individual performances from last week's games that helped you cash winning football gambling tickets against the college football point spreads...

QB Christian Ponder, Florida State Seminoles : Florida State's signal caller may have salvaged the Seminoles' season last Thursday night. Ponder threw three touchdown passes in the second half against North Carolina in a hostile Chapel Hill environment to lead the Noles back from down 24-6 to win 30-27. When it was said and done, the junior went 33/40 for 395 yards and three touchdowns without throwing a pick. Ponder may be turning himself into a legitimate quarterback prospect in the NFL. HC Bobby Bowden has had a lot of great quarterbacks in his time, but none have had to carry his team as much as Ponder has. If Florida State's remarkable streak of consecutive seasons reaching a bowl game stays intact this year, Ponder will be the one to thank.

RB Donald Buckram, UTEP Miners : You can't stop the Tulsa offense, but you can sure contain them by dominating the rushing game. The Miners got a yeoman's effort from Buckram on Wednesday night, rushing the ball 26 times for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Both scores came in the fourth quarter to turn a 24-13 deficit into a 28-24 victory. He also caught four balls for 27 yards. Without Buckram's efforts, UTEP would've stood a chance of covering the 9.5-point spread, but they absolutely would not have had half a shot of winning the game.

QB Terrelle Pryor, Ohio State Buckeyes : Last week we ranted about Pryor and his miserable effort against the Boilermakers, and even though he took a lot of heat from his fans in Columbus on Saturday afternoon at the start of the game against Minnesota, when it was all said and done, he led his Buckeyes to an impressive 38-7 victory. The sophomore went 13/25 for 239 yards with two TDs and a pick, but he was also solid on the ground, leading the team with 15 rushes for 104 yards and another score. Expect to see Pryor have another good start next week against a poor New Mexico State team, but the question is whether he'll come up big in the L/3 games of the season against Penn State, Iowa, and Michigan.

QB Zach Collaros, Cincinnati Bearcats : It's never easy coming into a situation as a backup quarterback when the starter goes down, but Collaros did a fantastic job replacing starter Tony Pike. He went 15/17 for 253 yards and three scores and picked up another 52 yards on the ground. He shredded a hapless Cardinals defense all day and proved that the future is bright once Pike leaves for greener pastures. The Bearcats had no problem capturing yet another cover, beating Louisville 41-10.

Tennessee DC Monte Kiffin : Ok, so Kiffin really isn't a player, but without a doubt, he's the most valuable Tennessee Volunteer right now. Without getting a single shred of help from his offense, Kiffin drew up a defense that successfully kept the Vols in games with both Florida and Alabama this year on the road. RB Mark Ingram was contained on Saturday, as he only went for 99 yards on 18 carries. However, the more impressive stat was that Tennessee kept the Alabama passing game down to just 120 yards. The game ball goes to UT's DC for doing more than enough to cover the closing college football point spread.
