The Big Ten had a mixed bag of betting results in the eighth week of CFB wagering. Find out what it all means for your future college football betting picks with this week’s BetUS Big Ten Power Poll…
1: Iowa Hawkeyes (5-2 ATS, 8-0 SU) (LW: 1) Is this a blessed team or what? The Hawkeyes figured out how to steal a late victory in East Lansing and now find themselves just four steps away from a trip to Pasadena. The question is whether or not that game in Pasadena will be the Rose Bowl, or the game for all the marbles. Don't expect a trip up this week.
Up Next: Home vs. Indiana (-17.5)
2: Ohio State Buckeyes (6-2 ATS, 6-2 SU) (LW: 3) There were plenty of boo birds out for QB Terrelle Pryor early against Minnesota, but he fired back with 239 passing yards, 104 rushing yards, and three total touchdowns. The Buckeyes got back on the winning end of things with their 38-7 victory against the Gophers, and there will be another cupcake on deck before the trip to Happy Valley.
Up Next: Home vs. New Mexico State (-38.5)
3: Indiana Hoosiers (5-2 ATS, 4-4 SU) (LW: 4) The Hoosiers covered the spread against Northwestern on Saturday afternoon, but the bottom line is that this is a game they should've won. They were up 28-3 before collapsing, as they allowed the final 26 points of the game and were handed a crippling defeat. Now the prospects of a bowl game are slim at best, especially considering that there are games left at Iowa and Penn State.
Up Next: Away @ Iowa (+17.5)
4: Michigan Wolverines (5-3 ATS, 5-3 SU) (LW: 2) Even though there was a lot on the line for the Wolverines on Saturday afternoon, they really posted a dud against Penn State and were never really in the game. However, bowl eligibility shouldn't be much of a problem, as games at Illinois and home against Purdue are on deck.
Up Next: Away @ Illinois (-8)
5: Purdue Boilermakers (4-4 ATS, 3-5 SU) (LW: 5) The win against Ohio State two weeks ago may be the spark that the Boilers need to try to salvage their season in the hunt for a bowl bid. A 24-14 win against the Illini may not have been good enough to cover the spread by the hook, but now Purdue needs three wins in its L/4 games to qualify for a bowl game.
Up Next: Away @ Wisconsin (+6.5)
6: Penn State Nittany Lions (4-4 ATS, 7-1 SU) (LW: 8) The Nittany Lions have been absolutely dominant since they lost to Iowa back in the final weekend of September. They moved to a perfect 4-0 SU and ATS in the month of October after crippling the Wolverines in Ann Arbor. Watch out for the sandwich game this week! Northwestern could be ripe for the upset coming in between the Michigan game and Ohio State game on PSU's schedule.
Up Next: Away @ Northwestern (-14)
And the rest…
7: Michigan State Spartans (3-4 ATS, 4-4 SU) (LW: 6)
8: Wisconsin Badgers (3-4 ATS, 5-2 SU) (LW: 7)
9: Minnesota Golden Gophers (3-5 ATS, 4-4 SU) (LW: 9)
10: Northwestern Wildcats (2-5 ATS, 5-3 SU) (LW: 10)
11: Illinois Fighting Illini (1-6 ATS, 1-6 SU) (LW: 11)
