The 2009 college football betting season continues with some great matchups in week 8. Check out how BetUS stacks up this power conference heading in this week's college football power rankings…
1: Colorado Buffaloes (4-1 ATS, 2-4 SU) (LW: 2) All it took for the Buffs to pick up a victory in the Big XII was HC Dan Hawkins benching his kid at quarterback. QB Tyler Hansen, making his first career start, went 14/25 for 175 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The true difference maker was the rush defense though, as Colorado held Kansas to -7 rushing yards for the game.
Up Next: Away @ Kansas State (+5)
2: Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-1 ATS, 4-2 SU) (LW: 1) Nebraska dodged a bullet two weeks ago, but last week, the Air Raid caught the Black Shirts napping and it ultimately took the Huskers out of the National Championship hunt. All isn't lost, though. At 1-1 in conference, Nebraska is still in a good position to win the Big XII North, especially after watching Kansas lose to Colorado on the same day.
Up Next: Home vs. Iowa State (-19)
3: Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-2 ATS, 5-2 SU) (LW: 3) For the second straight week, the Air Raid looked great behind backup QB Steven Sheffield. He only went 23/33 for 235 yards and a touchdown, but he also rushed for two scores. The difference was the defense, which held a good Nebraska offense to just ten points. Any time the 'D' can do that, the Red Raiders are going to prove to be victorious, no matter how good the opposition is.
Up Next: Home vs. Texas A&M (-21)
4: Iowa State Cyclones (4-2 ATS, 4-3 SU) (LW: 6) Are the Cyclones set to go bowling this year? Somehow, some way, they'll have to find two more wins to do so, which will probably require a win away from Ames. However, a 24-10 victory over Baylor really helped the cause. It was the fourth cover in the L/5 weeks for ISU.
Up Next: Away @ Nebraska (+19)
5: Missouri Tigers (3-3 ATS, 4-2 SU) (LW: 4) For the second straight week, Missouri had a great chance to prove that it was a legitimate squad. However, for the second straight week, the Tigers laid an egg and didn't hold up their end of the bargain. After their 33-17 loss to Okie State, winning the Big XII North seems highly unlikely, especially with a visit from the Longhorns scheduled this weekend.
Up Next: Home vs. Texas (+13.5)
6: Baylor Bears (3-3 ATS, 3-3 SU) (LW: 5) The Bears are running out of gas without QB Robert Griffin under center. Bowl hopes are starting to look grim for Baylor, as it won't be favored in any of its final six games. Just getting to five wins may be impressive, let alone the six required to play in December.
Up Next: Home vs. Oklahoma State (+10)
And the rest…
7: Kansas State Wildcats (3-3 ATS, 4-3 SU) (LW: 10)
8: Oklahoma State Cowboys (2-2-1 ATS, 5-1 SU) (LW: 11)
9: Kansas Jayhawks (2-3 ATS, 5-1 SU) (LW: 7)
10: Texas A&M Aggies (2-3-1 ATS, 3-3 SU) (LW: 9)
11: Oklahoma Sooners (2-3-1 ATS, 3-3 SU) (LW: 8)
12: Texas Longhorns (1-4-1 ATS, 6-0 SU) (LW: 12)
