The Big East plugged along last week with another week of ups and downs for us college football betting fanatics. Find out how the teams stack up against each other in this week's college football power rankings from BetUS...
1: Connecticut Huskies (6-0 ATS, 4-2 SU) (LW: 1) Is there anyone that can stop the Huskies from covering a spread this season? Even when Louisville looked like it might beat UConn outright, HC Randy Edsall's club bounced back with a huge second half and narrowly covered the 12-point spread last week.
Up Next: Away @ West Virginia (+7)
2: Cincinnati Bearcats (4-2 ATS, 6-0 SU) (LW: 3) Cincinnati made a big statement by beating South Florida at Raymond James Stadium on Friday night, but there's a huge question about the status of Heisman Trophy candidate QB Tony Pike. Pike threw for 140 yards and two touchdowns before getting hurt last week. But whether he's ready to go or not vs. the Cardinals, the Bearcats should have no problems getting to 7-0.
Up Next: Home vs. Louisville (-17.5)
3: Pittsburgh Panthers (4-2 ATS, 6-1 SU) (LW: 4) The Panthers withstood Rutgers' best shot at the end of the game, and ultimately proved triumphant against the college football point spread by a single point. If there are any hopes to reach the Orange Bowl, Pitt can't afford a trip up this weekend against a USF team that may have been exposed by Cincy last week.
Up Next: Home vs. South Florida (-6.5)
4: South Florida Bulls (3-2 ATS, 5-1 SU) (LW: 2) Everything was set up for South Florida to take a meteoric rise up the polls if it could've beaten the Bearcats at home in a primetime nationally televised game. But instead, the Bulls blew it, losing 34-17, and now they'll probably never sniff the Top-25 again. It seems like this will be another year for USF to head to a marginal bowl game.
Up Next: Away @ Pittsburgh (+6.5)
5: Syracuse Orange (3-3 ATS, 2-4 SU) (LW: 7) The rest of the teams from here in the Big East lost, so by default, the idle Orange move back into the rankings. Still, it's hard to see this team really performing that well until QB Greg Paulus (or whoever is under center) figures out how to avoid turnovers. Paulus leads the country in interceptions.
Up Next: Home vs. Akron (-9.5)
6: Louisville Cardinals (2-3 ATS, 2-4 SU) (LW: 5) HC Steve Kragthorpe had another very frustrating week of college football betting action last week. His Cardinals were only down to UConn 14-13 at halftime, but a 24-6 Huskies run put his squad away. Four more critical turnovers were crippling to Louisville. Even if Cincy's QB Tony Pike can't play this week, it seems awfully unlikely for the Cards to pick up a SU victory let alone cover the spread.
Up Next: Away @ Cincinnati (+17.5)
And the rest…
7: West Virginia Mountaineers (2-3 ATS, 5-1 SU) (LW: 6)
8: Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2-4 ATS, 4-2 SU) (LW: 8)
