The Big East plugged along last week with another week of ups and downs. Find out how the teams stack up against each other in this week's power poll from BetUS...
1: Connecticut Huskies (5-0 ATS, 3-2 SU) (LW: 1) Connecticut choked away its best chance to grab the inside track to the Orange Bowl when it was outscored by Pitt 11-0 in the 4th quarter of its 24-21 defeat on Saturday. It was another game where the Huskies struggled to move the ball through the air (197 yards); UCONN now rank 98th in the land in passing at 176.8 yards per game.
Up Next: Home vs. Louisville (-11.5)
2: South Florida Bulls (3-1 ATS, 5-0 SU) (LW: 2) The Bulls are on the eve of perhaps the biggest game in team history. HC Jim Leavitt has had his team ranked as high as #2 in the nation two years ago, but USF has never quite figured out how to crack the BCS. A win against Cincy on Thursday night would go a long way in getting the Bulls to the big show.
Up Next: Home vs. Cincinnati (+3)
3: Cincinnati Bearcats (3-2 ATS, 5-0 SU) (LW: 4) QB Tony Pike is starting to get a lot of rumbles about the Heisman Trophy this year, but he'll need to perform well on ESPN's Thursday nighter to impress the pollsters. It would also be an incredibly important victory for the Bearcats, who can set themselves up nicely for an Orange Bowl bid.
Up Next: Away @ South Florida (-3)
4: Pittsburgh Panthers (3-2 ATS, 5-1 SU) (LW: 3) QB Bill Stull rebounded from a pair of interceptions to lead the Panthers to a huge victory at home on Saturday afternoon. Stull found Dorin Dickerson on a 27-yard touchdown pass, and then led the game-winning drive for K Dan Hutchins field goal. One of the final two road games on the season are up this week with a trip to Piscataway.
Up Next: Away @ Rutgers (-3)
5: Louisville Cardinals (2-2 ATS, 2-3 SU) (LW: 6) Down 16-7 at halftime to a C-USA team, HC Steve Kragthorpe probably delivered the speech that saved his job. His Cards outscored the Golden Eagles 18-7 in the second half to salvage a 25-23 victory. K Ryan Payne's 32-yard boot with 0:30 to play sent the Papa John's Stadium crowd home happy. Still, it's still hard to picture how Louisville is going to end up scoring another victory before Halloween night.
Up Next: Away @ Connecticut (+11.5)
6: West Virginia Mountaineers (2-2 ATS, 4-1 SU) (LW: 7) Does anyone remember that this Mountaineer team is still really, really good? They went through the motions and still covered the 10.5-point spread in the Carrier Dome on Saturday against Syracuse. WVU is one of the only teams in the country that has scored at least 30 points in all of its games this year.
Up Next: Home vs. Marshall (-19.5)
And the rest…
7: Syracuse Orange (3-3 ATS, 2-4 SU) (LW: 5)
8: Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2-3 ATS, 4-1 SU) (LW: 8)
