The two best teams in the AL meet tonight when the New York Yankees host the Los Angeles Angels in a makeup game that could help determine home-field advantage throughout the postseason.
The Angels should present a test for the -120 favored Yankees, who are a major league-best 41-15 since the All-Star break. The Yankees were swept in a three-game set in Anaheim July 10-12 right before the break to fall to 2-4 against Los Angeles.
Mark Teixeira is 3-for-25 with no RBI this year against the Angels.
Teixeira is one of several Yankees who have not fared well against Jered Weaver, the Angels’ starter for today.
The righthander is 4-1 with a 5.82 ERA in six starts against the Yankees in his career, including 1-0 with a 5.25 ERA in two this year.
The Yankees will start Joba Chamberlain.
