Andy Roddick and Fernando Verdasco are set to meet stiff opposition on Saturday when they contest their third round matches. Roddick will have a showdown against compatriot John Isner for a spot in the fourth round; meanwhile, Verdasco will battle veteran Tommy Haas.

Both Roddick and Verdasco are favoured by BetUS bookies to advance into the last 16 and for the most part, it would be silly to argue with the market cast. Yet, when all is said and done, will it be as straightforward as the mood in the market suggest, falling in line with the odds.

Here is a look at these two exciting matches on the tennis-betting menu for Saturday at BetUS Sportsbook.

Tennis Betting Line: John Isner +600 Andy Roddick -1200

Tennis Betting Verdict: This match is going to be a veritable serve-fest with two of the biggest servers in the game. I expect there will be very few breaks of serve and at least one or two tiebreaks that will decide the match by a few points.

Andy Roddick is by far the heavy favourite at -1200. And surely a lock to win this match. His season has been so outstanding to see him return into the discussion of serious challengers for a Grand Slam title. Many believe he has a real shot at this one come Sunday next week.

Standing in his path are several obstacles naturally and none more imminent than compatriot John Isner who may have a few things to say about it all. Isner has had a breakthrough summer by his standards and many expect him to give a good account of himself at Arthur Ashe Stadium Saturday night. At best I can see him taking set off Roddick. Masterminding the upset would be a tall order (no pun intended).

Tennis Free Picks: Roddick in four sets

Tennis Betting Line: Fernando Verdasco -170 Tommy Haas +130

Tennis Betting Verdict: Based on rankings and seedings, Verdasco weighs in as the favourite but he is not so untouchable as to take away from the value bettors might find in Haas’s underdog odds. At -170, Verdasco is the conservative favourite. Interestingly, he has never beaten Haas and trails 0-2 lifetime. However, the last time they met was in 2008 before Verdasco enjoyed his breakthrough. Haas is coming off a semi-final appearance at Wimbledon and tennis bettors would do worse than risking on him.

The matchup between Fernando Verdasco and Tommy Haas is perhaps one of the toughest to call. It should be a close affair and appropriately the tennis betting line is tight. I like Verdasco to take the win in five sets.

Tennis Free Picks: Verdasco in five sets
