Teams in the N.L. West and A.L. West respectively fill the first four spots in the MLB Power Rankings. The Angels are tops while the Rangers have kept pace enough to stay in second place. The Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are 3rd and 4th.

Perhaps, the most impressive team to crack the top five in the power rankings are the St. Louis Cardinals who have spurted away from their rivals in the N.L. Central Division.

Let’s take a look at the rankings.

MLB Power Rankings
1. Los Angeles Angels 77-52 ATS +2054 units 72-57 RL +1607 units - - The Angels have gone 4 and 6 in their last 10, including a split against the Oakland Athletics and going 1 and 2 against the Detroit Tigers, but that’s not enough to drop them from the top ranking. They could turn things around against Seattle and Kansas City this week.

2. Texas Rangers 72-57 ATS +1952 units 72-59 RL +1042 units - - 5 and 5 in their last 10 with a series coming up against Toronto suggests that the Rangers may have finally hit the wall. Then again, it looked like they hit the wall about a month ago and they came storming back.

3. Los Angeles Dodgers 78-53 ATS +1422 units 62-69 RL -237 units - - After the horrible series against the Cardinals, the Dodgers have come back strong by going 7 and 3 in their last 10 games. Arizona and San Diego are next which means that the Dodgers could finally squash any ideas that San Francisco and Colorado might have of winning the N.L. West.

4. San Francisco Giants 72-59 ATS +1231 units 70-60 RL +1247 units - - They swept Colorado in their last series and overall have won 5 out of 6 games. The Giants have the ability to catch the Dodgers, but most likely they could garner a wildcard berth. They would become a very intriguing team in the playoffs.

5. St. Louis Cardinals 77-55 ATS +1111 units 67-65 RL +365 units - - The Cards are 8 and 2 in their last 10 and with a series coming up against the Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates, they could increase that lead in the N.L. Central. Nobody is playing as well as the Cardinals who will pose a legitimate danger to L.A.’s and Philadelphia’s hopes of garnering home-field advantage throughout the N.L. Playoffs.

6. Colorado Rockies 72-59 ATS +1023 units 69-62 +437 units - - All they needed to do was beat the Dodgers first and then beat the San Francisco Giants. They lost 2 out of 3 to the Dodgers and were then swept by the Giants. This team just isn’t going anywhere. The Mets, who can beat them are next, followed by the Arizona Diamondbacks. They had their chance and they blew it. They’re hoping to get another.

7. Philadelphia Phillies 75-53 ATS +935 units 69-59 RL +1691 units - - Philadelphia’s three game series against the San Francisco Giants could be peek into the future as the Giants could win the wildcard spot. Both teams have good pitching staffs. If the Phillies can get to the Giants’ pitchers, then they have to be considered the favorites in the N.L.

8. Boston Red Sox 76-54 +827 ATS 65-65 RL -101 units - - The Red Sox are back in the power rankings after going 7 and 3 in their last 10 games. As long as they don’t play the Yankees, this team could very well find themselves as the team to beat in the A.L. A march to the wildcard isn’t a foregone conclusion, though, as the Rangers keep winning as well.
9. New York Yankees 82-48 ATS +780 units 69-61 RL +949 units - - The Yankees have gone 7 and 3 in their last 10 as well including sweeping the Chicago White Sox. They have two very winnable series this week against the Baltimore Orioles and the Toronto Blue Jays.
10. Seattle Mariners 68-63 ATS +779 units 64-67 RL -416 units - - The Seattle Mariners keep doing enough to stay in the BetUS MLB Power Rankings. Their next series is against the Angels who they could beat if their pitching is solid.
