MLB BETTING – AL $$$ Power Poll through 8/23
The final month of the MLB betting regular season is right around the corner, and it’s time for baseball bettors to sink their teeth into the action. The Halos sit atop the AL $$$ Power Poll once again and the following is the remainder of the BetUS Sportsbook AL Power Poll…
1) Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (74-48, +$2,485) (4-3, +$51 LW) (LW: 1) Anaheim’s 10-game road trip ended at 6-4, but the Halos have to feel like they could’ve done a lot better considering they won five straight games in that stretch. Still, with a 5.5-game lead in the AL West, Anaheim should be safe.
On Deck: vs. Tigers, vs. Athletics
2) Texas Rangers (69-54, +$1,788) (3-4, -$165 LW) (LW: 2) Things are starting to get dicey for the Rangers. They’re probably out of reach of the Halos in the AL West, and after losing two out of three to the Rays, the Wild Card standings are getting awfully tight. Now, they’ll look to avoi9d three straight series losses at Yankee Stadium & the Metrodome this week.
On Deck: @ Yankees, @ Twins
3) New York Yankees (78-46, +$787) (4-2, +$69 LW) (LW: 3) The Bronx Bombers bats blasted Boston and wrapped up a big road trip with four wins in their final five games. These next six home games will have a huge effect on the playoff chase, but barring a colossal collapse, the Yankees should be back in the playoffs after a one-year hiatus.
On Deck: vs. Rangers, vs. White Sox
4) Seattle Mariners (63-61, +$539) (2-4, -$106 LW) (LW: 4) In a week where both the Red Sox and Rangers lost some ground, a 2-4 week for Seattle really may have marked the end of the season. The M’s have lost seven of their L/10 games, and in all but one of those losses, they failed to score more than three runs.
On Deck: vs. Athletics, vs. Royals
5) Boston Red Sox (70-53, +$320) (4-2, +$245 LW) (LW: 7) Boston’s offense is starting to really hum. The unit has scored over 50 runs in its L/6 games. However, losing two out of three games to the Yankees at Fenway most likely ended its chances of winning the AL East. The Sox still have a tad bit of wiggle room in the Wild Card standings though.
On Deck: vs. White Sox, vs. Blue Jays
6) Chicago White Sox (63-61, +$60) (3-3, -$213 LW) (LW: 5) The White Sox are probably going to rue the week that they went just 3-3 at home against the Orioles and the Royals. The next four weeks of games? Road tests against the Yankees, Red Sox, Twins, Angels, and Mariners; as well as home games with the Red Sox and Athletics. Ouch.
On Deck: @ Red Sox, @ Yankees
7) Detroit Tigers (65-58, -$86) (3-3, -$179 LW) (LW: 6) Losing two out of three against Oakland this week was just inexcusable for the Tigers, especially considering the fact that the White Sox slipped up against sub-par competition as well. Someone has to grab control of this division at some point.
On Deck: @ Angels, vs. Rays
8) Tampa Bay Rays (67-56, -$149) (4-2, -$20 LW) (LW: 8) The Rays narrowed the gap on the Rangers this week, but they’re still three games behind the Red Sox for the AL Wild Card lead. The bad news is that the next six are on the road. The good news is that the Sox are coming to the Trop after that. It’s time for Tampa Bay to make its move.
On Deck: @ Blue Jays, @ Tigers
And the rest…
9) Oakland Athletics (55-68, -$470) (3-3, +$102 LW) (LW: 9)
10) Minnesota Twins (61-63, -$799) (5-2, +$380 LW) (LW: 11)
11) Toronto Blue Jays (57-65, -$1,354) (2-4, -$246 LW) (LW: 10)
12) Baltimore Orioles (51-73, -$1,420) (3-4, +$227 LW) (LW: 13)
13) Cleveland Indians (54-69, -$1,420) (3-3, +$47 LW) (LW: 12)
14) Kansas City Royals (47-76, -$2,432) (1-5, -$409 LW) (LW: 14)
