Even though the Los Angeles Dodgers dropped a spot to #4 in the MLB Power Rankings, the N.L. West is still incredibly strong. Colorado took over the #3 spot on the MLB Power Rankings.

The other two top spots in the power rankings? Taken by the Angels and the Texas Rangers, two teams from the A.L. West Division.

By contrast, the Boston Red Sox, who had made a steady climb into the Top 5 in the MLB Power Rankings, suddenly find themselves on the outside looking in while another World Series contender, the Philadelphia Phillies have risen all the way to number 5 in the rankings.

MLB: Power Rankings

1. Los Angeles Angels 74-48 ATS +2485 units 69-53 RL +1606 units - - Actually the Angels have lost 3 out of 4 but they were so good early last week that it didn’t harm their ranking at all. The Angels are the only team that has made profits above +2000 units so far this season. They should maintain that level of excellence with games against the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics this week.

2. Texas Rangers 69-54 ATS +1788 units 67-56 RL +1074 units - - Texas could drop themselves in the power rankings after this week and out of the chase for the A.L. West title. The Rangers have gone 2 and 4 in their last 6 games and now face the New York Yankees. Bettors shouldn’t expect to see the Rangers in this spot next week.

Colorado Rockies 70-54 ATS +11350 units 67-57 RL 907 units - - After going 7 and 3 in their last 10 and with their top rival, the Los Angeles Dodgers, losing with regularity, the Rockies are suddenly only 3 games out of the N.L. West lead. They face San Francisco on Monday night before a 3 game set against the Dodgers.

4. Los Angeles Dodgers 74-51 ATS +1307 units 59-66 RL -241 units - - They bounced back against the Chicago Cubs after losing 2 out of 3 to the St. Louis Cardinals. They rest on Monday before taking on the Colorado Rockies in a 3 game set that has suddenly become very important.

5. Philadelphia Phillies 71-50 ATS +1044 units 66-55 RL +1081 units - - Not only have they solidified themselves as the top team in the N.L. East but they’ve actually put themselves into position to garner the best record in the N.L. The trade for Cliff Lee has paid nothing but dividends so far.

6. San Francisco Giants 67-57 ATS +946 units 66-55 +1801 units - - They needed to do better against the Rockies, but failed to get a victory out of Tim Lincecum and now must win on Monday night in order to secure a split. The rotation is awesome but without the bats, the Giants are finding things difficult. A series against the Arizona Diamondbacks this week will help them right the ship.

7. St. Louis Cardinals 72-54 ATS +871 units 66-60 RL +792 units - - 2 and 1 against the Dodgers, 3 and 1 against the San Diego Padres, Houston and Washington coming up means that it’s probably over in the N.L. Central. Chalk it up. The Cardinals will win the division.

8. New York Yankees 78-46 +787 ATS 65-59 RL +731 units - - Sure the Yankees were pummeled 14 to 1 in the second of a three game series against the Boston Red Sox this past weekend, but in the game before, they beat the Red Sox 20 to 11 and in the game after they beat the Red Sox 8 to 4. The Yankees have the best record in baseball and are going to be tough to beat for the A.L. Pennant this year.

9. Florida Marlins 65-59 ATS +760 units 68-56 RL +1143 units - - The Marlins have gone 2 and 4 in their last 6 and that was against the Houston and Atlanta. They aren’t going to catch the Philadelphia Phillies but gamblers can make profits off of this team if they choose which games in which to bet them wisely.
10. Seattle Mariners 63-61ATS +539 units 59-65 RL -1012 units - - 3 and 7 in their last 10 means that the Mariners just aren’t that profitable of a team any more. Like the Marlins, bettors will have to choose the particular games where they think the Mariners can make profits.
