New ace Cliff Lee will try to continue his dominating run by winning his eighth straight start as he faces the New York Mets for the first time today at Citi Field, with the lefthander also hoping to pitch the Philadelphia Phillies to a third consecutive win to close the series.
Lee won his last three starts with Cleveland, making him 7-0 with a 1.09 ERA since the All-Star break.
The Phillies charged past New York to win the NL East each of the last two years, and they’ve beaten the Mets seven of the last eight times in head-to-head play this season
The Mets, who are +240 underdogs, have had trouble with their rotation and will start converted reliever Bobby Parnell for the fourth time. Parnell was clobbered in his last outing, allowing nine runs and nine hits in three innings of Wednesday’s 15-2 loss to Atlanta.
