Winning championships is clearly not an easy thing to do, and there are endless franchises out there that have never been close. It does not matter what sport, it seems like there are always a small few that are in contention each year.

Then there are the franchises on the brink, the ones that are one or two players from being the best of the best.

In the NBA, the Cleveland Cavaliers are on the brink of being a champion. Many thought last season was their year but it did not happen. Will the addition of Shaq make the difference?

Sportsbooks must think so, as the Cavs are listed at +250 to win the 2010 NBA title.

In the NFL you could argue the Minnesota Vikings are on the brink of being a Super Bowl contender. All it seems they are lacking is a quarterback, and if they land Brett Favre their odds will only improve.
