Michael Bisping
Age: 30
Record: 17-1
Before UFC 100
Michael “The Count” Bisping has had a pretty good career in the UFC – and in MMA in general – and he’s on the cusp of stardom. With his last two fights coming in front of his home crowd in England, though, he’ll have to prove that he can be dominant even when the fans are not on his side.
Bisping is 17-1 in his MMA career, which is quite impressive. Originally a heavyweight, he dropped to middleweight and is 3-0 since the move. His only loss so far is to Rashad Evans, which in the grand scheme of things, isn’t so bad.
Fight With Dan Henderson At UFC 100
Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson are the two coaches from The Ultimate Fighter 9 and there is a little bad blood brewing.
Dan Henderson’s punches pack some power so Bisping is going to have to be careful. Henderson is a little sloppy with his form, though, so Bisping can out-point him with punches if the fight is fought standing. But that might be key as it’s fairly unlikely that Bisping will stop Henderson in this fight.
Bisping has great form though and he can – and will have to – outwork Henderson for the win. Bisping is in his prime right now and he just needs to avoid a wrestling match with Henderson and he should be alright.
After UFC 100
Bisping could be one or two steps away from a Championship opportunity – he’s that good. He looks like he’s in the best shape he’s been in so far and this fight could catapult him to the No. 1 contender spot.
With a win, there will be plenty of possibilities. How about a matchup with Wanderlei Silva?
A win would definitely boost the growth of MMA in the UK, that’s for sure.
