Before UFC 100

Frank Mir heads to UFC 100 on a three-fight winning streak with one of those wins coming against Brock Lesnar. Mir is a submission specialist and for the most part, and has always been underrated as a heavyweight fighter.

With a second win over Lesnar, pundits will be force to submit that he’s the best in the business.

Fight With Brock Lesnar At UFC 100

Mir’s rematch with Lesnar has been a long, anticipated rematch (Mir injured his knee, which delayed the bout from UFC 98 to UFC 100).

Lesnar dominated the first fight up until he made a rookie mistake and Mir managed to grab a hold of his leg and force him to submit.

Bettors should be concerned that Lesnar was younger, less experienced and less prepared for a fight with a guy like Mir. A year-and-a-half later, that could be a different story.

Lesnar figures to have improved significantly since the first time but the question is what tweaks will Mir add to his game plan? If he has something up his sleeve to throw off Lesnar, then Mir could become undisputed heavyweight that he believes he deserves to be.

After UFC 100

If Mir can defeat Lesnar, clearly he’ll become the undisputed heavyweight champion. At that point, there might not be any reason for a Mir-Lesnar III but Mir would be in line for a battle against the winner of two up-and-comers: Shane Carwin and Cain Velasquez. Those two will fight at UFC 104.

If Mir loses, there is the chance for a Mir-Lesnar III since both fighters will have won once each in the trilogy but Mir would likely have to beat someone credible in the mean time to show he deserves a rematch. In the mean time, Lesnar would then fight the winner of Carwin-Velasquez.
