UFC 100 - Brock Lesnar Profile

Brock Lesnar

Age: 31

Record: 3-1

Before UFC 100

Brock Lesnar, The Next Big Thing, is the big thing in the UFC right now. For some people, it’s hard to believe that he’s only been around for four MMA fights.

From WWE stardom to MMA stardom, Lesnar has made the full transition. He’s fought just three UFC fights but his improvement from fight-to-fight has been remarkable, which is why he has been hyped up so much.

After losing his first bout to Frank Mir, Lesnar dominated Heath Herring and the knocked-out Randy Couture at UFC 91. He hasn’t fought since November 2008 but a lot of people are excited to see him back in the ring.

Fight With Frank Mir At UFC 100

Frank Mir might be in some trouble at UFC 100. For starters, Lesnar is going to want revenge.

If the fight is fought standing, Lesnar has the edge as he has the more powerful punches. If it goes to the ground, Lesnar’s wrestling background should reign supreme.

The one area where Mir has a clear edge is submissions, but one has to wonder how effective they will be this time around. Mir submitted Lesnar in their first bout after Lesnar made a rookie mistake and left his leg out.

Lesnar’s all-around game has improved – including his defense – and that will likely be the difference. His spidey sense should be well aware that Mir will be looking for a submission and as long as Lesnar avoids it, this fight is his to lose.

After UFC 100

A Lesnar win would likely set up another heavyweight showdown between Lesnar as the winner of Shane Carwin-Cain Velasquez, who will fight at UFC 104.

If Lesnar absolutely dismantles Mir, then there will be some debate as to whether Lesnar – and the UFC – can somehow set up a bout with Fedor Emilianenko. Although that’s unlikely to happen, with a dominant performance, it will at least put Lesnar in the same conversation.

If Lesnar is to lose, though, there is potential for a third match in the trilogy but it might be unlikely since Mir would have already won the first two fights. Lesnar would have to win another fight in the short term and hope for another shot at the championship somewhere down the road.
