Texas is the Early Favorite
Recommended By: Ben Obama | Archive | Free Pick
College Football is just around the corner. It’s time for online sportsbook Football betting fans to take a hard look at the teams that are capable of not only winning the BCS Championship, but putting some serious money into the pockets of gamblers.

As always, two of the top teams in the power rankings are the Florida Gators and USC Trojans, but the top team isn’t either one of those. That would be the Mack Brown led Texas Longhorns. Surprisingly, the Longhorns’ top rivals, the Oklahoma Sooners don’t even get into the power rankings yet because they are lacking experience along their offensive line.

Let’s take a look at the NCAAF Power Rankings in the BetUS online sportsbook.

NCAAF: Power Rankings

1. Texas Longhorns +700 - - They return Colt McCoy who is the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy this upcoming season and have 91 starts along their offensive line. That’s enough for me. They also have a pretty good defense returning. The Longhorns should be ultra-tough this year and at the odds should be considered for a bet to win the BCS Championship.

2. Florida +175 - - With only 51 starts along their offensive line, the Florida Gators could find the return trip to the BCS Championship more difficult then their 1.75 to 1 odds would indicate. However, they keep Tim Tebow at quarterback and their defense is loaded with returning starters. This team will be good again and I can’t drop them out of the second spot in the power rankings yet, but they’re an overlay to actually win the championship.

3. USC Trojans +550 - - I’d love to kick them out of the top ten altogether because year after year it seems like they disappoint, but with 91 starts along the O-line and enough defensive speed to replace the starters that they are losing, the Trojans figure to be a top team again. Now, if they could just stop dropping a game each year against a lackluster Pac-10 opponent they might make it to the BSC Title Game.

4. Virginia Tech Hokies +1600 - - Forget about everything else. The Hokies will have a great defense, like always, and have 100 starts along the offensive line. This team is going to be good. They should be ready to dominate the ACC Conference again after a couple of tough years.

5. Oklahoma State Cowboys +5000 - - 50 to 1 on a team with 86 start on the offensive line and a returning quarterback? Let’s not forget that the Cowboys also have a fired up, tough guy coach, and a decent defense. They could be a nice surprise in the Big 12 this year.

6. Georgia Bulldogs +5000 - - Another 50 to 1 shot with a huge chance to make and possibly win the BCS Championship. Last year the Bulldogs were beat up in the trenches. This year they figure to be much better along both the O-line and the D-line. They don’t return the skill players that made them dangerous last year, but that’s okay. They could be a sneaky good team in 2009 with the 99 starts along the offensive line under their belts.

7. LSU Tigers +1900 - - LSU was down last year. It won’t happen this year. They don’t have fantastic experience along the offensive line with only 79 starts, but it should be enough for them to once again strike fear into the rest of the SEC.

8. Notre Dame +2200 - - The Fighting Irish could be one of the surprise teams of the 2009-2010 season with 100 starts along their offensive line, Jimmy Clausen returning as a starter, and a very good defense. Stop the hating and think about betting on the Irish!

9. Tennessee Volunteers +7000 - - Lane Kiffin isn’t going to wait to get this team good again. First of all, they have a good defense. Second of all, their offensive line has 80 starts together. Third of all, this is Lane Kiffin and he can really coach. Forget it. A turnaround in year one is expected.

10. Ohio State Buckeyes +900 - - I love their defense. I love their quarterback. I just don’t have faith that the O-line, with only 62 starts, is going to be good enough to protect Terrelle Pryor. They should lose a game or two early to put them out of the race to win the BCS Championship.
