1) Boston Red Sox (42-27, +$802) (4-2, +$58 LW) (LW: 2) The BoSox did their job this week and played well enough to take four out of six against lousy opponents. Get used to seeing a lot of 4-2 and 5-1 weeks in Boston’s future, as the next six series are all against sub-.500 teams. That four-game lead in the AL East could balloon to ten very, very quickly.

2) Texas Rangers (37-31, +$703) (2-4, -$310 LW) (LW: 1) Objects in rear view mirror are closer than they appear. After several weeks on top of the AL West standings, Texas’ run in the top spot is probably just about over. It only holds a half game lead on the Halos and has lost four straight with no end in sight. The schedule is significantly easier this week, though.

On Deck: @ Diamondbacks, vs. Padres

3) Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (36-31, +$594) (4-2, +$157 LW) (LW: 3) The Halos posted another winning week and took another chunk out of Texas’ lead in the AL West to get back within a game in the win column. They just lost two out of three to the Dodgers, and now have to deal with a team that’s won 16 out of 17. Yikes!

On Deck: vs. Rockies, @ Diamondbacks

4) Detroit Tigers (38-31, +$505) (4-2, +$160 LW) (LW: 4) The Tigers snapped a four-game slide in style over the weekend, finishing up with four straight wins to pad that lead in the AL Central back up to four games over Minnesota. If they keep playing like this (and the rest of the division keeps playing as poorly as they have been playing), the playoffs are almost a certainty.

On Deck: vs. Cubs, @ Astros

5) Toronto Blue Jays (38-33, +$284) (4-2, +$327 LW) (LW: 5) A 4-2 week is normally really encouraging, but when you consider that the Phillies have dropped six straight and the Nationals are… well, the Nationals… that doesn’t seem so impressive, especially considering the fact that the Jays had to salvage the third game of that Washington series to avoid getting swept. The good news is that they come back to Rogers Centre this week, where they are 21-13. The bad news is that they’ve lost six of their L/7 there.

On Deck: vs. Reds, vs. Phillies

6) Seattle Mariners (35-34, +$74) (5-1, +$401 LW) (LW: 9) Don’t forget about this Seattle team down the stretch. Many thought that this was a World Series team last year before it turned out to be a complete dud, but the pieces are in place for this team to make a run if it makes a move or two at the deadline. The M’s went 5-1 this week and gained a lot of ground on Texas in the AL West standings. The problem is that Anaheim also stands in its way.

On Deck: vs. Padres, @ Dodgers

7) Tampa Bay Rays (37-34, -$131) (3-3, -$15 LW) (LW: 6) CF BJ Upton is starting to get his swing back, and the Rays are playing better baseball because of it. The phenom is up to .240 after going 14/32 this week. There’s still a lot of baseball to be played this year, and those six games they’re behind the Sox could disappear in a hurry if things start to turn around. This is a big home stand this week against two NL East opponents.

On Deck: vs. Phillies, vs. Marlins

8) Baltimore Orioles (32-37, -$239) (5-1, +$484 LW) (LW: 13) The O’s have taken five straight, and have done so against some powerful NL East opponents. That streak could extend this week with the weaker part of their Interleague schedule on deck.
