The United States Federal government is making a huge mistake when it comes to sportsgambling and internet gambling. There are over 2,000 offshore sportsbooks and casino's worldwide where Americans go to bet on the internet or on thier favorite football, basketball or baseball teams! Isn't it time for the Federal Government to wake up and smell the coffee? People are gonna bet whether it's legal or not. The Government spends millions every year prosecuting people for being bookies and companies for booking action! The simple answer is this! Why doesn't the Federal Government of the United States learn from the British who have had legalized gambling for years and follow in thier footsteps and legalize gambling?
Let's just say it is set up this way! The US Federal Government opens thier own website, let's call it BETFEDS.com! The Federal Government in turn takes any and all action from people who want to bet in the United States on horse, baseball, football, basketball etc! Tax when you lose, take the money straight out of your account! If you win, total it all up and at the end of the year, pay a tax on your winnings! Or better yet, get a tax return on your losses you paid in?
It's really quite simple as the bookies keep 10% vigorish anyways, why not have the Federal government take that 10% and put it back into our tax system? If you win 40 grand at the end of the year, tax it at 5% and there is even more money for the government! People talk about the nations' deficit? Hell this sytem would eliminate the deficit within 2 years and start showing a huge profit within 3-4 years!
The Federal government just is not thinking wisely, if they did think wisely they would save millions of tax dollars yearly going after illegal bookies and illegal offshores that take American's bets! Everyone bets whether you like it or not, from the office pools, to the 10 dollar brotherly bets, to the guys betting thousands on sporting events, it can all be monitored and done legally! Then the FEDS can go after the real criminals, the Corporate thiefs, murderers, rapists, child molesters etc, and quit wasting our hard earned tax dollars on something that everyone does and will continue to do.
Let's face it, the NFL surely, would not be where it is today if not for gambling! If you couldn't bet an NFL game people wouldn't watch it. And besides the point, if your a sharp handicapper and can win consistently it would be nice to get a weekly check from the Federal Government for winning football or basketball games, instead of hammering away at the old steel mill, 40 hours a week!
