It's only been two weeks since the last UFC pay-per-view, but Saturday's card at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia is stacked with high-profile matchups. Smart move, considering this is the first time the UFC has gone Down Under. The 21,000-seat arena was sold out on the day tickets were made available, as fans look forward to a strong mix of living legends and rising stars dishing out some punishment in the Octagon.
The main event has special implications for the UFC's Heavyweight division. Dana White has promised a title shot to the winner of the match between former Interim champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and the undefeated Cain Velasquez. This match was supposed to take place last month at UFC 108, but had to be postponed because of Nogueira's staph infection. Between that postponement and the medical condition of champion Brock Lesnar, the Heavyweight division needs someone to step up and fill the vacuum of power. Velasquez has shown all the tools in his seven previous MMA victories (including an appearance with BodogFight in 2006). But this will be his first fight against an elite opponent. Will he pass the test?
The MMA odds are just barely in Velasquez' favor. In fact, there are very few gimmes anywhere on the card; Joe Stevenson is the biggest chalk of the night at –250 against local hero George Sotiropoulos, a product of The Ultimate Fighter and unbeaten in his five UFC fights. Here are the recent lines for the athletes involved in Saturday's top four matchups.
